Hello, I am Mia
I work as a project manager. I'm a parent and an expat living in Berlin, Germany.
Several years ago I moved here with my family. What began as a short-term assignment gradually became a new chapter of life abroad.
How It Began
Moving to Germany wasn’t part of the long-range plan. Like many expat moves, it started as a job opportunity and soon grew into something far more significant.
The early months were challenging — new systems, new routines, new expectations. Routine tasks seemed more complex than expected.
The Adjustment Phase
There was culture shock, uncertainty, and a lot of learning on the job. But gradually, routines took shape. We found places that fit us, met other families, and began building something that felt steady.
Why I Created Sundry Cider Haven
Most online information was either corporate relocation guidance or surface-level travel content. What was missing was an honest, everyday family perspective.
This site aims to fill that gap — practical advice drawn from real life in Germany.
What This Site Covers (And What It Doesn't)
This site IS:
- Practical know-how from living in Germany
- Centered on family life and daily realities
- Updated whenever a real change occurs
This site ISN'T:
- An official tourism authority resource
- A sponsored review platform
- Just another travel blog
Moving Forward
Our time in Germany goes on, and so does the learning journey. As long as the information remains helpful, I’ll continue to document what we discover.
If you have questions about family life in Berlin or anywhere in Germany, please feel free to get in touch.
Best regards,
Mia
